The institution committee of the newly established faculty of Marine Sciences at the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has been inaugurated by the pioneer Dean, Professor Francis Asuquo.

Following inaugurating the Board at the
Conference Hall of the New Faculty, the
pioneer Dean recommended the efforts of the Vice Chancellor and the University Senate for approving the establishment of the faculty.

Prof. Asuquo said while the Faculty would
wait patiently for National Universities
Commission (NUC) approval to commence
full operations in the 2015/2016 academic
Session, he would work assiduously to
ensure the return of all Institute of
Oceanography programmes domiciled in
the Faculty of Science.

Asuquo who was the immediate past
Director of the Institute of Oceanography,
applauded the first Director of the Institute,
Prof U.K. Enyenihi and other past Directors
for the foresight and determination to get
the Institute started in 1983.
