JAMB UTME Cut Off Marks

Remember! Higher institutions reserve the right to increase the JAMB 2018 cut off mark above the minimum accepted by JAMB.

Contrary to the purported cut-off marks being circulated on social media, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it has not announced any cut-off point for the 2018/2019 admission exercises.

The board’s Head of Media and Information Department, Dr Fabian Benjamin debunked the report saying no cut-off mark whether for programmes or institutions had been released by JAMB.

The JAMB’s spokesman also said that cut off marks would be disclosed sometime in June after policy meeting.

In a statement, Benjamin said “we want to seize this medium to debunk such rumours as they are malicious and wicked as they are designed to defraud innocent Nigerians, especially parents and guardians as well as other stakeholders.

“No cut-off marks will ever be decided upon without the usual policy meeting which has been scheduled to hold sometime in June and which is to be chaired by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.

“Until that is done, every other thing that is being paraded as cut-off mark is fictitious and therefore, the public is hereby warned not to fall prey to these fraudsters.

“In the same vein, any institution that has commenced any form of admission without the official cut-off mark as would be decided upon at the June policy meeting is doing so illegally.”

2017/2018 JAMB Admission Cut-off Marks.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released cut-off points for this year’s admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and monotechnics..

The minimum cut off marks for admissions into universities in Nigeria was set for 120, polytechnics and colleges of education pegged at 100, while that of innovative enterprising institutes was pegged at 110.

Institutions are, however, at liberty to raise their cut off marks for admission above the minimum set by JAMB.

These decisions were taken at the 2017 Combined Policy Meetings on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria which ended on Tuesday.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede said institutions, with the decision, are not to go below the minimum cut-off points adopted at the meeting for admissions.

According to him, “What JAMB has done is to recommend; We will only determine the minimum, whatever you determine as your admission cut-off mark is your decision.
